God of was in Egypt: 5 hints, why the setting of the Ragnarok
In Greek mythology, Thanatos (; Old Greek: Θάνατος, pronounced in Ancient Greek: [tʰánatos] Fatality , from θνῄσκω thnēskō (I) die, am passing away ) was the personification of death. He was a small number in Greek folklore, often described however rarely showing up in person. His name is translated in Latin as Thanatus, but his equal in Roman folklore is Mors or Letum. Mors is sometimes wrongly related to Orcus, whose Greek equivalent was Horkos, God of the Vow.
It fits perfectly together. In Nordic mythology, Ragnarök seals the demise of the gods and thus the demise in the world. And as the world ends in the legend, it ends with God of War 2: Ragnarok also Kratos history in the far north. As part of the last State of Play, Director Eric Williams has already confirmed that the Nordic series will definitely be completed with the upcoming successor of the Gow Reboot.
How to go to God of War 2? Well, that the turn of Ragnarok is continued, it should be in consideration of the huge success of God of War in dry towels. Only where there is Kratos then does not know yet. However, in the past, there have been several evidence that the next adventure of the series possibly plays in Egypt. We carry the most important clues here for you.
Note 1: Egypt (and other mythologies) as part of the God of War Lore
Kratos has already engaged in the God of War games by Greek and Nordic mythology, but other mythologies of world history are an integral part of the Lore.
As Director Cory Barlog told War Lore in an interview under the Gamescom 2018, all mythologies in the world in God of was interwoven with each other and the gods of these mythologies interact here. A brunette scene in ancient Egypt is already not excluded alone.
But there is still a handful of further clues that show that Egypt in the Lore of God of was playing a major role.
Note 2: Kratos was already in Egypt
Jap, read right, in comic . The series Fallen God , which is currently releasing at Dark Horse Comics, tells the experiences of Kratos, who fell between his departure from the ancient Greece and his arrival in the far north.
In the magazine, our favorite Hüne removes as far as possible from his homeland to get rid of his chaosblings. He lands in the desert Egypt, where he meets an old man, a talking monkey and a talking bird.
These figures are likely to have traded Heka, Chons and Horus. All deities of ancient Egypt. Read more about this:

In the God of War Comic Kratos now also has Egyptian gods on the neck
Note 3: Teaser in its predecessor
In the course of the history of God of War, Kratos and Atrus was entering the secret chamber in the Tyr Temple. There are numerous treasures from all over the world and we see relics from the past of the former Spartane.
Most clearly we recognize here an allusion to the old Egypt . Atreus even consists of a pharaic crown he finds under the treasures.
But even in the dialogues, the talk of a distant country in the desert, the very many gods is housed in the dialogue. Actual deities like Osiris, Anubis or Horus are not named directly, but there are different old Egyptian symbols and hieroglyphs to see.
Note 4: Tyr s character model
The latest clues hide on Tyr s character model from God of War 2: Ragnarok. For as RedDitor Thenerdvine detects, Tyr Tattoos carries hieroglyphs on his arm.

Sure, Tyr arrived a lot in the world and was already in ancient Egypt, where he has not only brought many gold treasures, but apparently his tattoos.
That Tyr has already traveled through Egypt, does not necessarily speak that the next Gow offshoot plays there. But this further small historical detail proves again that Egyptian mythology in the God of War Lore has a great job.
Note 5: Egypt was already considered setting for God of War
Like Cory Barlog in the Gamescom 2018 interview also revealed, at the beginning of the development of the gow reboot even the consideration in the room, Kratos for his PS4 debut to Egypt to send and not in the north.
To let the Grantigen Greeks wander through Egypt loud Barlog during the development of God of War had failed at various points. On the one hand, the world had been much too populated at that time and the hermit loneliness of Kratos and Atreus would not have been plausible.
However, this does not exclude an Egyptian setting for a future series offload . A densely populated game world can be better implemented thanks to PS5 power than with the hardware technically much weaker PS4. Especially when a future gow game is developed exclusively for the new Sony flagship. In addition, after the end of the North Saga, the narrative cards are newly mixed, so that a densely populated game world in ancient Egypt could actually be combined well with a new story.
Ultimately remains (of course) to wait, as it continues with God of War in the future . At the latest now, the door is open to new deities. Maybe in Nordic mythology will soon be true to Egyptian visit. It speaks at least much for it.
