PS5: PlayStation App gets new feature

Sharing screenshots and clips of your PS5 favorite moments should soon be easier and more mobile. Sony has started a limited beta test for a new PS5 feature with which your screenshots and videos of PS5 games can share via the PlayStation app.

For now, the new feature that is in beta phase is limited to players in Canada and Japan. European players remain outward first. However, this restriction is a proven measure to test new functions in a smaller frame.

Auto upload must be activated

To use the feature, you have to enable the auto-upload setting on your console. After updating the PlayStation app, the game screenshots and clips recorded on the PS5 are uploaded to the PlayStation app. From there you can spread them after downloading in almost all social networks, not just on Twitter and Facebook.

To automatically upload screenshots and videos, you should ensure the following:

Your PS5 console must be linked to the PlayStation App. Your PS5 console must be in the sleep mode and be connected to the Internet.

There are a few limitations. So uploaded media remain available for only 14 days in the PlayStation app. In addition, the videos must be less than three minutes and can not be played in 4k. In addition, your trophy moments and the automatic recordings of the activity manufacturer will not be uploaded. Also, a manual upload is not possible.

The beta is initially available on iOS devices for users in Canada and Japan. Android users have to practice something in patience until they receive the update. Sony emphasized in this context that the release is gradually done and it may take a week until the Android smartphones are reached.
