"When I was small, I had to hide that I was playing because things didn't go so well at school," Kone told the French newspaper le Telegramme. Of course, the family would have liked the young Ibrahima to take a decent, reputable job. But he himself had other plans.

Kone grew up with his grandmother and early, at the age of 13 or 14 years old, he threw the school. "I lying at that time. I said I was going to school, but instead I played football. Some of my family thought I had become criminal," he says.

But some time later Kone could no longer hide what his everyday life actually consisted of. "When my family heard my name on the radio, they still thought that there were many men who are called Ibrahima.
