VFL Wolfsburg: Schmadtke talks about career end and calls possible successors
Managing Director Jörg Schmadtke from VfL Wolfsburg is retiring next year. "I will finish my manager career 2023 at VfL," said the 57-year-old on the edge of the 1: 2 (1: 0) against the TSG Hoffenheim at SKY.
Previously, Schmadtke had extended his expiring contract once again for another seven months to the end of January 2023.
As a successor, Schmadtke brought sports director Marcel Schäfer (37) in conversation. "It could be that he assumes the skills in the club, as the meaning would make. His development is very good, that you have to evaluate the objective," he said.
Just to extend seven months, made from Schmadt's point of view. "Otherwise, from February, I would have nothing to do from February except for an accompanying role. In the decisions in the summer, I would not be properly integrated, or if I would make decisions that affect me but no longer," he said, "a club should not say Five months salary pay if I'm not the decision maker. The term is therefore very logical. The 30.06. is less logical. "
